| This Union is here to look after you, the students. That's why every year we plough thousands of pounds worth of money handed over by you at our bars, food outlets and shops, into the Special Order of Students.

The Special Order of Students is here to help and support all students. We're working hard to improve the student experience by reinforcing the popular view that all students are penniless whiners stuck in 1960s socialist nostalgia who want everything for free and can't do anything for themselves needing all the help they can get as they are the hope for tomorrow! Many of the issues that affect students have changed over the years. But we appreciate that the student experience goes on. So where old problems have been solved, we've appropriated newer problems no matter how tenuous their link to the student community - we know you need representing. We also know that you need effective representation. That's why we've isolated a team of outspoken wannabie careerist politicians offering a range of half baked PC platitudes to make sure that even the average apathetic student who will never have voted for these individuals as they have utterly no interest in any of our opinions or operations can be represented. The fact that we have lost all of our high profile government policy campaigns for the last ten years only highlights the need for this work to continue. So this is why it is important for your Union to keep handing over its money to us so we can carry on working for YOU! Becky Thatcher, SOS President. |
